March 9th - 13th

Hello Grade Three Students and Families,
We miss you a ton already and hope that you are all keeping well.

MATH
Over the past week we began working on the concept of estimation in math and were working towards building our very own exciting esti-mysteries! Check out what an esti-mystery is here: https://stevewyborney.com/2019/09/51-esti-mysteries/

ART
In art we took our knowledge of 3D shapes and mixed it with our wishes of Spring! We brainstormed ideas of what Spring reminds us of... camping, flowers blooming, sunshine, warmer weather, rain, puddles, baby animals and playing outside more! Students were then challenged to take their idea and create a 3D sketch.

WONDER read aloud
We continued to read Wonder by RJ Palacio and students did a personal connections response to the first few chapters we read. Ask your child how they felt they personally connected to the story and what they wrote about. We left off on page 66, with the chapter titled Apples.

WRITING
We continued to work on our RCMP Name The Puppy letters this past week. Students were expected to finish their rough draft, check the task criteria, complete the editing checklist, conference with their teacher and then begin their good copy.

As for our UP COMING IMPORTANT DATES section...well it is unfortunately very crazy and uncertain times right now :(
Here are some ideas/links for things you can be doing at home until we get further direction from the CBE.
