This week we have been reviewing Expected vs Unexpected behaviour in our Grade Three classroom. By this time of year EVERY student should be setting themselves up for success by demonstrating the following:
- not sitting beside peers who we will talk to during large group discussions at the carpet
- using their time wisely to get their work completed in the time given
- listening to directions and following the group plan
- referring to task the criteria and giving their best effort
- asking for help when they need it
- showing good manners
This week we started reading the book -
Wonder by R. J. Palacio. August, also known as Auggie, is a 10 year old boy who was born with a facial deformity that has made life a little more challenging for him as well as more difficult for him to make friends. As we read about Auggie we begin to learn more about his incredible character and his courage.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police needs your help to name the next generation of police dogs. The chosen names will be given to 13 German Shepherd puppies born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alberta.
We are taking on this exciting writing challenge over the next few weeks! Who doesn't love puppies and persuasive writing!?! This week students excitedly started planning for their letters by learning the Name The Puppy 2020 contest rules, brainstorming some ideas and then narrowing their ideas down to their top choice with some reasons as to why that name would be the best.
You can check out the link here: Name the Puppy 2020
